Professor Byung-Kyu Park (pictured) of the Department of Engineering Systems and Environment at the University of Virginia has been elected as the next president of the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA, President Joon-Seok Oh).
KSEA announced that it held online elections for the executive team, technical group leaders, auditors, and next-generation representatives from March 10 to April 16, and that Professor Park was elected as the president after next based on the vote count.
Professor Park received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in urban engineering from Hanyang University and earned his doctorate in civil engineering from Texas A&M University. In addition, since 2012,
He serves as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Transportation and has served as vice president, auditor, and Central Virginia chapter president at KSEA.
In addition to the position of president, Dr. Ahn Hye-jeong was elected as the 1st Vice President of the 49th term, Professor Yoon Young-seop as the 2nd Vice President, and seven technical group leaders and next-generation representatives were elected in this election.
The term of the current 48th president, Oh Jun-seok, runs until this coming June, and starting July 1, the next president, Jo Sul-yeon, a professor of architecture at North Carolina State University, is scheduled to lead the 49th term for one year.
The term of office for the next-next chairman, Park Byung-kyu, is from July 2021 to June 2022.
