The Washington Alumni Association (President So Byeong-hun) celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.

On Saturday, April 16, a grand celebration was held at The Westin Tysons Corner to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding, and over 100 alumni attended to grace the occasion.

The event featured a screening of a video documenting past activities, as well as a photo exhibition showcasing 50 years of history. It was particularly meaningful as alumni took the initiative to collect old photographs and records.

In addition, to further remind people of the significance of the 50th anniversary, Preparatory Committee Chairman Kim Young-ki and the executives joined forces to publish a commemorative booklet containing the 50-year history of the Washington Alumni Association.

The booklet contains congratulatory remarks from the university president and the alumni association president, a list of past presidents, and congratulatory messages from various seniors and juniors, ranging from the class of ’49 to the class of ’01.

In particular, at this regular general meeting, alumnus Shin Seung-cheol was elected as the new president. Taking over from President So Byeong-hun, he plans to lead the alumni association with a mindset of preparing for the next 50 years based on its 50-year history.

The Washington Alumni Association announced that, with its 50-year history, it is preparing for a new leap forward and will strive for the development of more alumni, its alma mater Hanyang, and the alumni association.
