Even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the practice of love by Hanyang members continued unwavering. The ‘Giving Day Hanyang’ campaign, organized by the Office of External Relations for two days from May 14 to 15, has concluded. The ‘Giving Day Hanyang’ campaign was a 48-hour initiative where the entire Hanyang family united to support our students and the school in celebration of the university’s founding anniversary. It holds great significance as it was a campaign designed for current students who have been enduring continuous hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic that began last year, as they struggle to secure funds for tuition and living expenses.

A total of 720 alumni, ranging from the graduating classes of 1964 to 2021, participated in the campaign, raising a total of 309,569,000 won in donations. (As of June 15) The Seoul Campus Scholarship Fund raised the most funds, totaling 96.18 million won. This was followed by the College of Economics and Finance (Seoul Campus) with 30,650,000 won, the School of Architecture (Seoul Campus) with 22,520,000 won, the Department of History (Seoul Campus) with 12,460,000 won, and the College of Pharmacy (ERICA Campus) with 11,450,000 won.

The collected donations will be used as scholarships for students belonging to the college, department, or faculty designated by the donors. Kim Chae-hyun (Department of Media Communication, ’18), an alumna who participated in the event, shared her thoughts, stating, “Through the Giving Day event, I realized that there are many fellow students who sincerely hope for and support the development of the school. I believe that the affection and efforts of these students have come together to create the shining Hanyang University of today.”
